Founded in 1976 by brothers
Waleed and Malik Ali, the MPI MEDIA GROUP is
one of the largest and most successful independent producers
and distributors of movies, home video and music in the world.
Today, the multi-million dollar company has amassed a library
that encompasses over 60,000 hours of footage and the rights to some of the
greatest video, film and music recordings in history. The
MPI MEDIA GROUP is comprised of MPI HOME
VIDEO, MPI LICENSING, DARK SKY
FILMS, and the WPA FILM LIBRARY. Headquartered in Chicago, the company
operates from a 42,000 square foot facility in Orland Park,
IL.
MPI HOME VIDEO has a variety of more than 2000 home video titles
in its collection that appeal to wide audience, including some of the world's most
popular documentaries, movies and television programs.
Ranging from unforgettable TV favorites to outrageous stand-up
comedy to classic films, our titles include: The
Honeymooners "Lost Episodes," Richard Pryor's Live & Smokin', George Carlin's hilarious HBO
specials, The History of the 20th Century and the visually
stunning
70mm documentary Baraka.
MPI is also the place to curl up with a good mystery – on DVD,
that is. A Touch of Frost is the UK’s longest-running
crime drama, featuring award-winning actor, David Jason as the
unconventional detective. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
and The Return of Sherlock Holmes star Jeremy Brett as
Holmes, in this series of programs based on the original works
of Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle
MPI has also released the 14 Sherlock Holmes movies starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.
The UCLA Film and Television Archive digitally restored these
films to their original theatrical condition. These films have
received critical acclaim on television, radio and national
newspapers, such as USA Today. In 2005, MPI released
The Doris Day Show (1968-73), the successful situation
comedy featuring Day as a widow living with her two sons on a
California ranch owned by her father Buck, played by Denver
Pyle.
The True Stories Collection is a selection of
made-for-TV films based on actual events starring actors such
as Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst, Mercedes Ruehl, Juliette Lewis,
Brian Dennehy, Meredith Baxter and many more favorites from
the big and small screens.
Two family favorites, Petticoat Junction and The
Beverly Hillbillies are also scheduled for a late
2005 release
Additionally, we offer many horror and cult favorites on home video
such as the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the Dan Curtis
Macabre Collection and the 1960s spooky soap opera Dark Shadows,
television's most enduring daytime drama.
The company has also represented several of the incredibly popular Beatles' movies A Hard Day's
Night, Magical Mystery Tour and Help!, in
addition to The Beatles: The
First U.S. Visit and You Can't Do That:
The Making of A Hard Day's Night.
MPI HOME VIDEO also owns the rights to films held by the estates of Jackie Gleason,
John Wayne and the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., among others. MPI Home Video's
various music titles include the
musical variety shows Hullabaloo and Music
Scene, as well as individual performances by Liberace,
Petula Clark, a biography about The Carpenters and John Wayne's popular patriotic spoken-word album America - Why
I Love Her. To find out about upcoming titles on MPI Home

was voted Winner, Best Feature of the New York Underground
Film Festival in 2004.
